Profile of Rabi Thapa - CEO
Rabi Thapa, CEO of Sacred Summits (P) Ltd, with more than 19
years in the trek and tour business, has immense expertise both as a trekker as
well as an industry entrepreneur. Rabi has worked in various capacities with
major responsibilities as Operations Manager, General Manager, Director of
Operations and Sales, as well as a shareholder in prominent travel
organizations.
Some of the companies he worked with during the course of his
career are the Tiger Mountain group, the Temple Tiger group, and Himalayan
Holidays (P) Limited. A few of Rabi's remarkable achievements that demonstated
his ingenious management skills in handling both large numbers of guests as
well as field-staff in extreme conditions and for extended durations have been;
the Everest Extreme Expeditions, Explorers Club Flag #117 Expedition, Werner
Herzog's filming trip set in the harsh climes of the Tibetan plateau, and
recently, the Himalayan Enfielders' ride to Lhasa and Everest Base Camp in
Tibet in their classic Royal Enfiled 500 cc. motorcycles. September 2003 saw a
new dimension in Nepal's travel industry with the conception of an overland
motorbike tour from Kathmandu into Tibet. Rabi organized and led this 15-day
epic adventure to Lhasa and the Everest Base Camp in Rongbuk. Of late, Rabi has
been devoting much of his time in Maggie Burgess' Promise Nepal Leprosy Program
where he helps gather, compile and translate data on the Khokana Leprosy
colony, which lies in the southern fringe of the Kathmandu Valley. Promise
Nepal is a non-profit organization in the United Kingdom that extends support
to leprosy patients in Nepal.
