Jit Bahadur Gurung
Jit Bahadur Gurung was born and brought up at, Gorkha, Nepal. He
is a head cook assisting in treks and expeditions of Sacred Summits (P) Ltd
with more than 10 years of experience in the trekking field. His ability to
cook variety of cuisine ranging from Chinese, Continental, Japanese, Indian and
Nepalese dishes in harsh conditions with limited resources is his major talent.
He has taken cooking classes in many organizations and also
prepares baked items during the trek. Being highly versatile with tremendous
organizational skills, he singlehandedly took the responsibility to assist and
support the Dutch Everest Expeditions 1998 and 1999, as well as the Millennium
Expedition to Mount Manaslu in January 2001.
He has trekked extensively in Nepal and Tibet and has regularly
been a climbing sherpa having scaled many Himalayan trekking peaks including
Mera Peak and Island Peak. As the Head Cook in the Mt. Kailash region of Tibet
during the making of the Saka Dawa Festival documentary film by Mr. Werner
Herzong, Jit's culinary skills delighted the German Movie producer from
Hollywood as well as his photo-journalist wife, Mrs. Elena Herzog.
